Product safety requirements are prvelant in markets around the world. Safety standards can vary depending on the type of product a consumer will use, the intended operating environment, and the country where it will be used. Even though there are many variables, most electrical product safety standards are generally broken up into three catagories.

• Pinch points, including exposed roller mechanisms
• Product height and weight distribution

• Over-voltage and surge tests to ensure that the product will react properly to fault conditions by blowing a fuse or a circuit breaker
• High potential tests determining the dielectric strength of all primary circuits and isolation from secondary circuits

• Evaluating potential shock during normal equipment operation or routine maintenance
